- John McIntyre. Greensburg numbers among there respected citizens John McIntyre, who was born July 6, 1837, in Hempfield township, and is a son of Jacob and Maria (Goodlin) McIntyre. The family name would seem to indicate a Scottish ancestry.
Mr. McIntyre received his education in the common schools, and was early introduced to agricultural pursuits, becoming, when only twelve years of age, the assistant of his step-father, John Hays, in the labors of the farm. The experience thus gained no doubt stood him in good stead in after years. He is a member of the A.O. of U.W., of Greensburg, and mine foreman, No. 3 mine, Greensburg Coal Company.
