3 Brothers, Over 80, Wives Living (Headline) Unusual record of the Lummus family, ancestors, helped settle country, age range 81 to 85 (sub headline)

The three Lummus brothers, the youngest of whom is 81 and the eldest85, all with their first wives, constitute a rather unusual family record. The brothers are Mr. John P. Lummus, of Jackson, who was born May 4,1854, and is now in his 83rd year; Mr. Jesse P. Lummus, of Flovilla,born in February, 1852, and is now 85 years old and Mr. C.C. Lummus, of Griffin, born in March, 1855, and is now 81 years old. They are sons of Cornelius Lummus and Emmaline Gunn Lummus, early settlers of Henry County. The family moved to Jackson in 1857. Their great grandfather, Bobbie Lummus, came from Ireland and settled in this section in pioneer days. He lived to be 102 years old. Their grandfather, Billie Lummus, lived to be 99. The father died of poison in his early thirties. Longevity seems to run in the family. Two sisters, Mrs. Sallie Thomas and Mrs. Theresa Willard, are deceased.Mr. John P Lummus married Miss Lucinda Waits and there are seven children, all living. Mr. Jesse P. Lummus married Miss Suzie Dye and they had twelve children, some of whom are deceased. Mr. C.C. Lummus married Miss Olivia Dye and they had three children,all living. Friends of the three brothers, who are respected citizens of the communities in which they reside, wish for them many more birthdays.
