This JOHN LOWER is a bit of a mystery. OK, he's a BIG mystery! A lot of research by "White Creek" over many years has produced very little result! One would think that since he was born in Pennsylvania, that he would be connected to the large Lauer/Lower family from Hirsten, in the Saarland. Or perhaps connected to the much smaller clan of Lowers from the Kingdom of Württemburg, who settled in Blair County, Pennsylvania? So far - no linkage to any family!

On the other hand, John was buried in the Stone Creek Cemetery next to some Mohr children, who are probably the grandchildren of Daniel Lower (1792-1876) who lived just north of the cemetery, before moving on to Wabash County, Indiana in circa 1848. Daniel is the eldest known person in his line, and there was a discovery in 2014, that a descendant of Daniel, through several marriages, does connect to the "Hirstien Lowers", in Tuscarawas County!

Regarding the John Lower of this page, only the name of his daughter, Mary, has turned up in records. She was never married, and also is buried in the Stone Creek Cemetery.

This John Lower was a Lutheran. The early Hirstein Lowers were Lutheran and German Reformed. The early Daniel Lower (1792-1876) family were all German Reformed.

From the dates of the records that we do have, it would seem that John Lower was not living in the Stone Creek area, when Daniel Lower resided there; so they probably never met.
