Emmigrated to MA in 1639 Granted Land in 1639 Salem, Essex County, MA !Notes for John LOVETT I 1He was one of the eight admitted inhabitants of Salem, Mass., July 25, 1639. He came early to Beverly, and was at different periods surveyor of highways, constable and selectman. He held a large estate, bequeathed by will, Nov 1686, to his children, John II, Joseph, Abigail, Mary, Bethiah and his grandson, George Standley, son of George who married Bethiah. !Notes from Lovitt/Lovett web page. www.lovitt-genealogy.com John received a grant of land in Salem in 1639, and lived on the Beverly side. In his will, according to Cutter's "Personal Memoirs-Boston & Eastern MA" he left his son John a set of cooper's tools. According to Yarmouth Nova Scotia Genealogies, pg. 94, Mary was admitted a member of the Salem church in 1650 and was one of the petitioners for leave to establish a church at "Bass Rivers side", now Beverly. |
