John's children Sally K. and Hannibal are shown in his brother William's will, as well as John's, not his father, Samuel Sr's. William also mentions Rufus McCauley, s/o Easter McCauley (I have no clue who this is unless it is an illegitimate child), to brother Robert's sons, father Samuel Sr, and cousin, Robert Love of Campbell's station. Samuel Sr. will mentions: TO wife Mary, sons John and Robert, land from William Love's will, grandson Samuel son of David, dec'd., Granddaughters Margaret and Rebecca, daughters of Samuel Love Dec'd, and to Margaret or Rebecka, daughters of Joseph Love. to son Isaac. Samuel Jr was married to Charlotte Bell, after his death she married James Miller, her lawyer in the case to dispute her widows share of the estate. Joseph Love's daughters Margaret and Rebecca are both mentioned in Joseph's will as well as that of his wife, Mary (Bell) Love. Unfortunately Samuel Sr's obituary listed no family, just a brief notice of death. John Love who had the children Sally K and Samuel Hannibal mentioned in William Love's will, married Nancy McSpadden, and as she was a Wear and Armstrong family descendant, there are numerous early cites on this family, noteably a book by Oscar Lyle in which he talked to members of the families to get data. I'm sure there are errors, but it seems to be borne out by records. (Several years ago I lost a program which had many of my notes on John Love. I no longer have my cites on him from Knox Co records. Does anyone else have data on him from Knox County?) The Joseph Love who was sheriff was probably the Joseph Love, son of Samuel Sr because Samuel's son is Joseph L. Love, and in the Oct 1813 County Court Minutes for Knox County, The voting showed 20 votes for Joseph L. Love and 3 for Joseph Myratt. It is my understanding that Joseph Love gave bond for John Love on the guardianship of the Walker children in 1811. I do not know if this is the same Joseph Love. Has anyone seen a second Joseph in Knox county in this timeframe? (Joseph L died in Rhea Co in 1831.) In 1860 Maries Co MO, Pleasant McSpadden Love, son Of John Love and Nancy MCSpadden Love was living next door to his Uncle Isaac Love. Pleasant was the only one of John's children to come to MO. As I said, the son David in Samuels's will and Robert are unknowns to me. I have not figured out which David and Robert they are. Judy |
