  3. McLean's estimate of about 1715 is probably based on the order named in the baptism record. For Lydia he estimates about 1716, "or perhaps older than John". We cannot tell whether the baptism list is by age, and in fact, the odds of having 4 girls in a row, suggest it might be by gender and then by age. Given Lydia's marriage in 1733/4, a birth in 1716 would make her 17, which is a little young for New England marriages, so switching McLean's two estimates seems to give a more reasonable arrangement. We have absolutely no information to use in judging John's birth, since he died young, and all we know for sure, is that he was the youngest son and born by 1725.
