Jack lived and worked in Strathaven ,Lanarkshire where he ran a stationers shop, which had initially been his father's business.He went to South Africa to work for the Standard Chartered bank in Capetown and Pretoria, in 1935 but returned to fight in the second world war.He joined the Royal Air Force and was stationed in Wick, in the north of Scotland. After the war he joined his father in the business. In 1945 he married Marie Boyd Scott (died 1999) They had one daughter Kathryn (Kay) Scott Lorimer. Jack worked hard in the business and was also a keen member of the local Rotary club.At the age of 65 years he took up golf and played until he was 88 years old.He spent most of his adult life in Strathaven and was a welll known and well liked local character. He is survived by his daughter Kay.
