    Will of John Lobdell

    In the fear of God amen this 26 of October 1673 know all men yt I John Lobdell being weake of body But sound in understanding & memory: & desiring to set my House in order: according to the will of God & to dispose of that small part of outward estate which God hath given me: I do make this my last will & testament in manner & form as follows thereby making void all other wills.

    To witt after my soul and spirit committed into the hands of God my heavenly father that gave it & my body unto the dust to be decently buried in the hope of a glorious resurrection unto life eternall by Jesus Christ my dear redeemer and Saviour god blessed forever amen Imprimis: I give and bequeath my house and land all my solid estate to my Two sons John & Nathaniel when they come of age the eldest shall have three Parts & the youngest too upon a proportionable Division: and my desire is yt they might be brought up [to trade](Illegible but looks like trade.) at the dispose of my father Bosworth: also I will yt my eldest Daughter Hannah be brought up with the rent & income of the house & Lands yearly untill my Sons come of age: & then that they equally & a like take the care & charge of her: & the trouble with her, & to provide for her; also I will yt this my daughter Hannahs keepers shall enjoy the rent & income of the house & land untill my sons be of age although she should decease before yt time; also I will yt my Two youngest daughters Sarah & Mercy have & enjoy all my moveable Estate; allowing something thereof for the bringing up of Nathaniel being young also: Finally I earnestly desire & entreat my faithful loving & affectionate father Bosworth & my father Levet to become executors in trust for those my poor children. Thus declaring this to be my last will & testament I do hereunto put my hand & seal

    Filed with the will in the Registry of Probate, Boston, is the following letter:

    To the Right Worshipfull John Leveret
    Governor of the Colony of the Massachusetts
    At his House in Boston.

    These Honored and right worshipfull I am bound to troble your Honnor with a few lines in respect to a will made by John Lobdell of Hull whose first wife was my daughter She died and left one child which now of late is growne into a distracted condition Afterward he married Nathanniells Bosworth his daughter She died also and left foure Children more, and now he himselfe is dead and hath left a will which will apere before your Honnor wherein he doth desire my brother Nathaniell Bosworth and myself to be executors in trust for the performance thereof Sir I am aged and live remot and Cannot have that inspection into the estate as one should have so intrusted, and therefore have desired my brother Nathaniell Bosworth to be sole executor who have the Children and estate by him whome I judge will deale faithfully and therefore humbly Crave of your honnor that my not apereing in this business may be noe obsticle in the way but that the aforesaid Nathaniell Bosworth may have this business wholly in his owne hands not ----- but rest Your Honnors to Command and pray that ----- of health of joy and gladnes may forever be found in your dwelling Hingham the 5 of 9mo 1673.
