"John was a man of faith, as revealed in the account of one incident. It was the occasion of a serious turn in the prolonged illness of his sister, Jane Linn Campbell. Jane was near death when John visited her bedside and then went to the privacy of the barn to pray. However, his prayers were so fervent as to be heard by those still in the house. Afterward, he returned to the house and said, 'Well, Jennie, you'll not die this time.' Indeed, it was a few years yet before she finally passed away."S1,S2
