- Will of John Leeper Deceased
- In the Name of God Amen ~ the fifteenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven Hundred and Eighty-one, I John Leeper of Hamilton Township Cumberland County and State of Pennsylvania, Being Weak in Body, but of Perfect Mind and Memory, Thanks be to God; and Calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body, and Knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to Die. Do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament, That is to say Principally and First of all. I give and Recommend my Soul Into the hand of Almighty God that gave it, And my Body I Recommend to the Earth, to be Buried in a decent Christian Manner at the Discretion of my Executors; Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same Again by the mighty Power of God; and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has Pleased God to Bless me in this Life, I give devise, and dispose of the same in the following manner and Form; ~
- First, I give and Bequeath unto my Well Beloved and oldest Daughter Hannah Martin the Sum of three Pounds to be paid in Hard Money ~
- Secondly, I also give to my Daughter Ann Selders the sum of Three Pounds to be paid also in hard money ~
- Thirdly, I likewise give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Stewart the Sum of three Pounds Like Money and the Loom She hasNow in per Possession with all its Utensils & tackling?
- Also, I give to my Son James Leeper['s] Second Son the Sum of Ten Pounds Which Money must be put Upon Interest three years after this Date and to continue Upon Interest untill he Arrives at the Age of twenty one Years, and if he Dieth Before that time to be paid to his Sister, Ann? the Aforesaid to be Raised And Levied out of my estate, And the Remainder of my Estate I give and Bequeath to my Son Robert Leeper Whom I likewise Constitute make and Apoint to be one of my Executors of this my last Will and Testament, all and Singular my Lands Mesangues? and Tenements by him freely to be possessed and Enjoyed; And I do Constitute, and Ordain John McLean of the same place My other Executor, and I do hereby utterly disalllow, Revoke and disanul, all and every other former Testaments, Wills, Legacies, Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named Willed and Bequeathed, Ratifying and Conforming this, and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.

- Signed, Sealed published and pronounced Declared by the said John Leeper in his Last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto Subscribed and Names Thos. Kirby, James Paxton, Jean W. Robert
- Be it Remembered that on the 10th Day of April A.D. 1782, the Testament and Last Will of John Leeper Deceased was legally proved of which the foregoing Record is a true Copy and Letters Testamentary issued in Common form to Robert Leeper and John McLean Executors therein named on the said Tenth Day of April 1782~ Inventory and recompt to be exhibited into the Registers Office in the time Limitted and appointed by Law Witness my Hand
