The name LeForge carved in large letters is prominent on a row of stones. Here is buried John and Susan LeForge with several of their children. Susan was a sister of Benjamin Pulliam and had accompanied him from Virginia.
In Highland County she met and married - in 1840 - John LeForge, a native of Rockbridge County, Virginia. In 1850 they erected a modest two-story frame home in Fairfax which is still standing today.
In this house the LeForge's conducted a general store and received a license dated August 1850 to operate a tavern here.
