John O. Lauchner, 86, of Hicksville, N.Y., formerly of Burlington Township, died Aug. 16, 1991, when the plane he was piloting crashed in Great South Bay off Long Island, New York. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
He was born in Burlington Township to Henry and Addie Farlow Lauchner.
He was a 1922 graduate of Burlington High School and of Indiana University.
His first marriage was to Edithe Patty, who died in 1931. They were the parents of Richard Gayle of Commack, New York. He was then married to Frances Fox, who died December 1990. They were the parents of Frances Schultz of Carson City, Nevada.
Other survivors are a brother, Kenneth Lauchner of Arizona; a sister, Mary McKee of Logansport; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded in death.
Services were held Aug. 21 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Hicksville. Burial was in Holy Rood Cemetery.
