[Note: neither this source, nor Source:Caulkins, Frances Manwaring. History of New London, Connecticut (1895), p. 328, which mentions this will in slightly less detail, connects it to John Lamb of Braintree. But the details of the family are sufficient to make the connection: a first wife with four daughters, a current wife named Lydia, a son John and Joseph, the latter being underage. The details of the will add that there was a son named David, obviously younger than Joseph, not found in Braintree records and one other daughter besides the Jemima and Sarah found in the Braintree records that belonged to Lydia.]

    "(prob.) John, b. say 1642; m. (1) by 1677 Mary (French) Poole [NEHGR 2:353; BrVR 663]; m. (2) by 1690 Lydia ___ [BrVR 669]"

"That there was a son John who survived, probably born in the last 1640s, is based on several pieces of circumstantial evidence. First, there was a John Lamb who married in Braintree about 1677 Mary (French) Poole, widow of Samuel Poole [NEHGR 12:353]. Second, the widow of Edward Lamb remarried to Samuel Allen of Braintree. Third, John Lamb had among his children a son Samuel and a daughter Margaret, possibly named for his mother and stepfather."
