John W. Lamb, Aged 79 years, 2 month and 24 days. The funeral service was held at the residence of F. M. Dugger on Sunday at 10 0’clock. Rev. P. J. Martin officiated, assisted by Rev. E. H. Floyd. Grand-pa Lamb, by which the deceased was most familiarly known, was suddenly called from among the living in the afternoon of last Friday with but a moment’s warning. He had been going about as usual when a pain in the region of the heart made its appearance causing him to return to the house from the year at the residence of Mr. Dugger, thinking nothing serious of it, however, as it had frequently happened before. A few moments later found him silent in death. His aged wife and all his children yet survive him, the later being Calvin Lamb, Hiram Lamb, who reside near Owensburg, and John T. Lamb and Rachel Gilliland, Mrs. F. M. Dugger, of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Jas. McDowell, of Lawrence County. Grand-ma, or Aunt Patsy, was but 20 days younger than deceased, and is a descendant of Gen. Nathaniel Greene of revolutionary fame. The Celebrated their 57 wedding anniversary last October, to which were invited the voters of 1840, now living in the county, the deceased being the sixth one to pass beyond since then. Deceased came to Greene County at an early date locating near Owensburg where he lived until a few years ago where he and grand-ma came to live with their daughter, Mrs. Dugger. He was a devoted Christian, and great bible student. The widow, children and grandchildren, while greatly grieved by his departure, are consoled by the knowledge that he has gone to reap the reward of a faithful Christian.
