John Lamar II (A4), son of John Lamar (A3) and grandson of Thomas Lamar II (A2), was born about 1740 in Maryland. He came with his parents to Georgia in 1755. In June, 1756, he made application to the Governor of the Province of Georgia for lands in St. Paul's Parish near Augusta, adjoining the lands of his father, stating that he had been in the Province about a year and had two negroes. He was married three times. The name of his first wife is not known, but his second wife was Sarah Bugg, daughter of Edmund Bugg, a very wealthy man and a member of the Georgia Provincial Congress which met in Savannah in January, 1775. The third wife was Lucy Appling. This John Lamar served during the Revolution as a Captain in the Georgia Militia for which service he received a land grant in 1784. His children, by which wife unknown, were (1) John III (A5), Zachariah (A5), Basil (A5), Harmong (A5) and Jackson (A5).
