King, John, born 1/12/1758; entered service in Virginia regiment; pensioned 1819 in Spartanburg District, South Carolina; died 3/25/1842; married 3/2/1790 Sarah Lemasters (b. 9/17/1774 Amherst County, Virginia) Spartanburg District, South Carolina; widow pensioned 1843 there; children's births: Edmund 12/1/1790 (married 1/30/1830 to Nancy Emberson), William 3/19/1792 (married 1825 to Rhoda Smith), Mary 3/8/1794, Ann 11/7/1796, Lucy 11/15/1798 (married 12/15/1816 to James W. Cooper), Elizabeth 9/6/1800 (married 1/30/1823 to John Easly), Martha 10/20/1801 (married 12/15/1830 to John Gossett), Philip W. 10/22/1803 (married 8/1/1829 Dolly Browning), Sarah 1/22/1806 (married 11/11/1828 to Hiram White), unnamed son born 12/6/1808 (died at age 3 weeks), Margaret 11/2/1809 (married 10/11/1827 to David Reid), John 3/28/1812, & Minerva 5/15/1815 (died 2/5/1817); widow resided 1849 in Spartanburg District when pension increased; query letter in file in 1920 from great grand-daughter Mrs. Frances M.
