    Will of John Kimbrough

    "In the name of God amen. I John Kimbrough of the County of Caswell & State of No Carolina - being of a sound and disposing mind, and calling to mind the certainty of death, have determined as making this my last will & testament to wit -
    "Imprimis. I will & bequeath to my well beloved wife Mary Kimbrough all the property of ___ ___, with the increase of negroes from a negro woman named Nance, also all the stock [?] with increase now in my possession, which I received by her in marriage (agreeable to a marriage contract made with her) to her and her heirs forevermore. I also loan to my wife Mary Four hundred acres of Land, whereone I now live, one negro man named Briton [Britain?], one ___, one ___ ___, for the term of her natural life or widowhood. I also give to my wife Mary as much of the stock & provisions [?] which I may have on hand at the time of my death as may be ___ ___ for her support for one year --
    Item - I give & bequeath to my son James Kimbrough, one hundred thirteen acres of Land, one negro girl named A__ to him & his heirs forever - which land & negroes he has heretofore received--
    Item I give to the heirs of my Daughter Sarah Turner decd. Twenty Shillings--
    Item I give to the heirs of my son Thomas Kimbrough decd. the Land on which their father died which has been already recd--
    Item I give to the heirs of my son John Kimbrough that is to Sarah Colyer and to Patsy & Tabby Kimbrough one horse creature [?] of the value of Forty five dollars each--
    Item. I give to my Daughter Nancy Graves one negro boy named Barnet [?], one negro girl named Sarah, which negroes have been already recd--
    Item I give to my Daughter Frances Browning one hundred fifty acres of Land, one negro boy named Daniel, a negro woman named Lucy, the too [sic] first have been heretofore recd. Lucy is yet to be recd--
    Item I give to my son William Kimbrough three hundred & thirty too acres of Land, one negro boy named Dick, one negroe girl named Rachel, my Desk, with whatever ___ ___ whatever money [?] may be in ___ may contain at my death, ___ notes & ___ -- the Land & negroes have been heretofore recd by him--
    Item I give to my Daughter Patsy Thomas twenty shillings. I give to the children of my said Daughter Patsy, two negroes by the names of Edy [?] & Mary, with their increase, which negroes have been heretofore recd by the husband of my said Daughter Patsy--
    Item. I give to my Daughter Tabby Snipes one hundred & fifty acres of Land, one negro named Peter - which Land & negroes has been heretofore recd--
    Lastly I give & bequeath to sons James Kimbrough, William Kimbrough, the heirs of my son Thomas Kimbrough, & Nancy Graves - all the residue of my property of what kind ___, not above bequeathed, as well as that part of my property loaned to my wife Mary at her death or marriage -- to be equally divided between them or their heirs, share & share alike--
    I constitute & appoint my sone William Kimbrough & my friend James Darby as Executors to this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all others -- In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this day of November 1817

    The foregoing last will and testament of John Kimbrough decd was duly proved in open court by the oaths of Jeremiah Rudd and Thomas Page the two subscribing witnesses thereunto, and on motion the same was bound to be recorded in this record and in the journal of the court at this time ([the?] minutes of this term) and further at the same time William Kimbrough one of the executors named in the said will came into open court and duly qualified as an Executor to Execute the said last will & testament of John Kimbrou decd and the Court ordered that [dully?] [testimony?] [infur?] to him, which was paid recording by
