  6. John Kaspersma Jr., 62, died unexpectedly at his home in Conrad Sunday, April 28. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 2, at 2 p.m., at the Christian Reformed Church of Conrad with the Rev. John Moes officiating. Burial followed in the Hillside Cemetery with the Wyse Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    John Kaspersma was born at Manhattan, Montana, June 17, 1911, and moved to Conrad with his parents in 1913. He was raised and attended schools here, entering the U.S. Army in December of 1942 and engaged in the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhineland. He was discharged in January 1946 and returned to Conrad where he has farmed with his family east of Conrad until the time of his death. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church and had served as a deacon of that church.

    He was preceded in death by his father, John, in 1954, by one sister, Wilhelmina, in 1942, and by a brother, Peter in 1920.

    Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Maggie Kaspersma of Conrad; one sister, Dora of Conrad; two brothers, Leonard of Conrad and Howard of Worland, Wyo.; and two aunts and uncles.
