                                "John M. Kane Dies After Long Illness
     John M. Kane, 74, a former well known resident of this county, passed away January 22nd near Storm Lake, Iowa.  Death was due to paralysis, having suffered a stroke four years ago from which he had never fully recovered.
     Mr. Kane was born April 6, 1867 at the old Kane homestead near Iroquois, the son of Morris and Mary Hudson Kane.  He grew to manhood in the Iroquois community and attended the public schools there.
     On May 29, 1895 he was married to Myrta Maie Moore of Watseka.  He was a brother of Mrs. George Eastburn and William Kane, Watseka, and Morris D. Kane, Kankakee.  Two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Travis of Watseka and Mrs. Ella Kane Murphy of Wisner, Nebr., preceeded him in death.
    Surviving are the widow, three daughters, Mrs.  Golda Moser and Mrs. Hazel Waggoner, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Wanda Merritt, Cedar Falls, Iowa; two grandsons, Elmer Kane and Robert Phillis Waggoner, and several nieces and nephews.
     A son, Elmer, crashed in an aeroplane accident October 29, 1929.
     Funeral Services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Segur Funeral Home, Rev. Chas. B. Wagner officiating.  Burial was at Prairie Dell Cemetery."
