Facts and Events
The family had a letter written in Italian from his mother posted in Trieste in 1874 saying she had not heard from him in about 18 years. She mentions a brother named "Pinni" and an uncle named "Laschi".
The letter was signed "I am with affection, your mother, Maria Zona". The address was:

Date of birth: 1835 His marriage certificate gives his date of marriage as 4 Feb 1855. He had given his age to the priest as 20 years old.
Date of birth: 1832 Naturalization papers say he came to Charleston in 1849. He became a citizen in 1871 and his age is given as 39. .
Date of birth: 1840 His death certificate says that he was 40 years old and that he had been a residence of Charleston for 24 years. This would mean a date of birth of 1840 and that he came to Charleston in 1856.
The 1850 census - not found
The 1860 census give his age as 25 - date of birth 1835
The 1870 census gives his age as 40 - date of birth 1840
The 1880 census gives his age as 45 - date of birth 1835.
