  2. Johnson, John, s. Humphery, Nov. 17, 1679. - Roxbury Vital Records NOTE: I am assuming that this is a record of baptism, not birth, since it seems unlikely that Humphrey lived away from his children between his marriage and the child's birth and there is no record of his moving from Hingham
  3. On 20 July, 1688, "we Humphery Johnson And Abigail my wife in the Township of Hingham in the County of Suffolk .... New England .... in Consideration of the love and naturall affection which we hear unto our Children John and Deborah Johnson .... do absolutely Confirme to our Son John Johnson and Deborah Johnson . All that our hundred acres of land in Scituate Called Burnt Plaine as it is Confirmed By Pattent, To them or the longer liver of them if John Dye before he attaine to the age of twenty one years or marriage or Deborah Dye before the age of Eighteen years or marriage . Also we Do give and graunt together with the land aforesaid a priviledge in the Comons of Scituate a Right of Improvement in Comons Equall with the Sons of the ancient Inhabitants that are proprietors in the Comons or undivided land in Scituate aforesaid but if Either of the Childred dye as Aforesaid the Survivor to Enjoy all the lands and proffits And Abigail my wife James Witton Senr and Elisha Besbey both of Hingham are hereby Requested and Impowered as Overseers or Feoffees in trust for and in behalf of the Children for the Improvement of the land and proffits thereof for the benifit of the Childre aforesaid. Also we Humphery Johnson and Abigail my wife do Revoak and Release all Right that we have by Pattent or otherwise to the said hundred acres of Land .... onely I Humphery Johnson Do Reserve of Improvement of part of the land During my naturall life about twenty acres or 25 acres but the title of the Hundred acres is Confimed to my two Children .... they or their Assignes paying yearly the proportion of the Quitilcut expressed in our Pattent it is to be understood that the said Humphery Johnson is not to sell or waste the Timber on the land aforesaid farther then for present Improvement for fencing or planting the land and whereas it is expressed I have liberty to Improve part of the land aforesaid it is to be understoode I have liberty to Choose my place taking it together . The proportion of quitt Rent being one shilling and eight pence yearly which according to pattent is to be paid Annually upon the Day of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary" The deed was signed by Humphery Johnson, and by "Abigail Johnson Senior" (by a mark). It was witnessed by Robert Dunbar, Sr. (by a mark), Nathaniel Johnson and Isaac Johnson.

Signed by Humphery Johnson, and by "Abigail Johnson Senr" (by a mark), and witnessed by Robert Dunbar, Sr. (by a mark), Nathaniel Johnson and Isaac Johnson.
