When John was 17, he moved with his parents to Hancock Co, Il. In 1860 he married Sarah and in 1866 they moved to Kansas, near Aliceville, where he lived until his death. Sarah died during childbirth of the 11th child. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Monday morning, May 4, at 10:00 am. The Isenbergers had been members of the Christian Church for many years.

John was a Civil War veteran.
