John Ingram was baptised on 28th July 1774 at Grantham in Lincolnshire, son of Elizabeth Ingram, formerly Ball, and her husband John Ingram, a miller. The family lived at Manthorpe, a hamlet to the north of the town of Grantham. Sadly John died about five months after his baptism, being buried on 19th December 1774 at Great Gonerby, just west of Manthorpe.
