Family lived at Dartmouth, MA before going to Liverpool, but identified as "of Chatham". 1787 Census lists 2 men and 1 woman, indicating family had grown. sons Elisha and John Jr. in same census iwth own families. A John Hopkins received permission from Massachusetts during hte Revolution (1788) to move his family to the Cape, but changed his mind. NGS "Nova Scotia Settlers from Chatham, MA, vol 62, p99.
