Disambiguation

NOT to be confused with John Hooe (b. 23 Feb. 1727/28), son of Howson Hooe (1696-1761). They were first cousins. It appears that this John Hooe is likely the one that married Anne Fowke on 14 March 1755 in St. Paul's Parish, Stafford County, Virginia, even though this John Hooe would have only been 17 years old at the time, which was somewhat unlikely in Colonial Virginia during that time period. One marriage record refers to "John Hooe Jr." as marrying Ann Fowke, but as the term "Jr." was also used to distinguish between older and younger people with the same name and not always showing a father-son relationship, additional research is needed to prove that this John Hooe did marry Anne Fowke.
