Judge John Blair Hoge (Ann Kean Hunter, David, David, Hugh, Andrew) was born in 1825. At the outbreak of the Civil War he organized a company of cavalry and served until the close of the war. He was a prominent member of the Bar and a member of Congress. In 1883 President Cleveland appointed him United States District Attorney for the District of Columbia, which office he held until 1889. His first wife was Anna Creighton, daughter of John Knox Wilson. He married, second, Mrs. Maria Somerville Alston.
