This couple is frequently confused with another couple: viz. John's brother Jacob Herry m. Elizabeth's sister Mary Elizabeth Sailor on 13 Nov 1779 in Washington County, Maryland, USA. Other's call Jacob by the name "Johan Jacob" which has caused him to be confused with his brother John. Clearly, it is easy to confused "Elizabeth Sailor" with "Mary Elizabeth Sailor".

The couples can be differentiated because - John and Elizabeth moved to Rockingham County, VA before 1793, where John died about 1801. Their children tended to be born in VA (after 1793) and to be married there or further south (NC) and southwest (KY). - Jacob and Mary Elizabeth stayed in Washington County, MD, where Jacob died in 1806. Their children were b. in Maryland, and many stayed there. Those that left seem to have moved to IL or OH. - One exception is these patterns is that one son of John and Elizabeth moved to IL from KY (with children) in the last decade of his life.

Both couples have sons John and Samuel. The records for these each pair of sons (e.g. John son of Jacob and John son of John) are frequently mixed with those for the other family.

Please tell me if you find errors in these generalizations.
