    John Harriman, Jr. … taught school New Haven and was fitted for college in grammar school there, under eye of Rev. John Davenport; educated at Harvard College, Cambridge, Mass., where he graduated, 1667; a fine mathematician, employed by the government to take the latitude of places in the boundary between Mass. and Conn. Although not at that time an ordained minister, for the first two years of the settlement at Wallingford, Conn., 1670-72, he preached to the settlers there on the Sabbath; also preached at New Haven and East Haven, Conn., until called to the pastorate at Elizabethtown, abt. 1690, or earlier the settled minister there until 1704; informed proprietors of his parish, 1692, that he had a family of seven sons; at least nine children …

    According to Jacobus in "Families of Ancient New Haven", John Harriman was the son of John, Sr. & Elizabeth (Scott) Harriman. He was baptized Jan. 24, 1647 in New Haven Colony. He graduated Harvard College 1667.

    From "History of Fairfield, Fairfield Co., Conn.", Vol. 1: He married, Hannah, daughter of Richard Bryan of Milford, CT and settled at Elizabeth Town, N.J. between 1690 and 1692.
