I JOHN HARKRIDER of the County of Wythe and State of Virginia, being weak of body but of sound mind and memory and being mindful that it is ordained for all men once to die, I do hereby make this my last will and testament in order to dispose of my little worldly property in manner following, to wit: I do will and bequeath to my son DAVID HARKRIDER for his kind attention to me at all times when required of him, as also on account of his agreeing to keep me and maintain me in all kinds of meat, drink, clothing, washing, lodging, and everything fitting, and becoming a person in my situation during my lifetime for all of which said considerations as aforesaid, one hundred and fifty dollars which I had lent him. I also will and bequeath unto my same son DAVID all my property and money that I may have or leave at the time of my death; still with these conditions as above that he is to keep and maintain me during my life as above mentioned. I do hereby acknowledge the above to be the last will and testament, and to therefore on this 12th day of April in the year 1835 sign the same. At a Court held for Wythe County at the Courthouse on Monday the 11th of December 1837. This the last will and testament of John Harkerider dec'd was presented in Court, proved by the oaths of Michael Capel and John L. Lindenberger, teo of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of David Harkerider, the Executor named in said will who took the oath required by law and together with Michael Capell and John L. Lindenberger his securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $1000 conditioned as the law directs certificate is granted him for obtaining probate of said will in due form.
