  5. Source:Brookfield, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records to the End of the Year 1849, p. 493, lists the death of John Hamelton on 15 Feb 1745-6. This record says "s. John and Hannah" which makes it look like this John, but it also says "in 18th y." which makes it look like the son, b. 1728. Given the probate records cited, and as this son marries in 1753 to Joanna Walcott, it appears the record applies to this John.
