John Hageman was a New York City police officer from 1929 to 1949, when he retired. He spent most of his career as part of the Harbor Unit stationed at the Battery. The New York City Police Department provided a full honor guard for his funeral in Amityville, New York. He and his wife Matilda Hollfelder (Kellner) Hageman built a house in Huntington, New York and wintered in Englewood, Charlotte County, Florida. They eventually moved full time to their home in Englewood. After the death of Matilda Hageman in 1973, John Hageman moved Amityville, NY, where he was lovingly cared for by his daughter Genevieve Starzman DiPaola and her family until his death in 1993. |
