- John Gunby was born April 19, 1672 - proof needed.
- Upon the marriage of John Gunby to Adria Kirke, her father, John Kirke, conveyed to John and Adria "Kirkes Purchase ... in consideration for the love, good will, and affection which I bear towards my good friend, John Gunby ... after my decease." (Som. Deeds 7:458).
- Gunby patented "Meadow", 1723, and "Gunbys Adventure", 1734.
- In his will, signed October 24, 1744, John Gunby named wife Sarah (evidently second wife) (one-third of personal estate); bequeathed to son James, "Kirkes Purchase", "Gunbys Adventure", and the "Meadow"; and left a shilling each to son Kirke, daughters Priscilla Gunby, Sarah Jones, Grasianna Lane, Ardrey (Adria) Adams, and Susanna Taylor. Grandson James Gunby and daughters Sarah and Rachel Gunby were to have residue of estate (Som. Wills EB9:262).
- John died by August 29, 1745 [probate].
- In the inventory of September 18, 1746, a legacy was paid to Thomas Adams (Ann. Inv.22:407).
