    ... John Green, a carpenter by trade, and a farmer by occupation.

    John was an early settler of Kentucky, where the greater part of his life was spent. He married for his first wife Rachel Williams, unto whom was born the following offspring : Thomas, Sallie, Charles and Newel.

    For a second wife he married Rebecca Snider ; the second marriage was blessed by the following children :
    Eli, born January 27, 1811 ;
    Polly, born November 28, 1813 ;
    Jonathan, born December 31, 1815 ;
    William, born January 8, 1818, and
    Absalom, born January 23, 1820.

    The mother of these children was the daughter of Henry and Mary Snider who were of German lineage, and she was born June 30, 1782, and was united in marriage with John Green, November 19, 1807 ; her death occurred February 14, 1831.

    John, her husband, died in Ohio, March 5, 1823 ; he had removed with his family from Kentucky to Ohio, about 1813, and shortly after his death, his widow with her family, removed to Indiana, and in 1824, settled in Shelby County, settling on Blue River, and here the widow lived till occurred her death. ...
