John Farquhar GRAY married Elizabeth DILL 18dec1853 at Colmonell, Ayrshire and 20dec1853 at Penninghame, Wigtownshire. In 1881 John B. F. Gray (landed proprietor b. 1823 Irvine), wife Elizabeth B. F. (b. 1830 Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire), Isabella Milroy (visitor, governess, b. 1839 Ballantrae) and 2 servants were at Kirkhill Castle, Colmonell (census) He died 22 oct 1881 and Elizabeth died 15jan1905. Elizabeth DILL was probably born 2aug1829 at Penninghame, Wigtownshire, daughter of William DILL and Elizabeth BLACK; her brother William was minister at Colmonell from 1850. John was known later as John Barton Farquhar Gray. In Scottish Archives there is the will of John Barton Farquhar GRAY of Kirkhill and Glentig, who died 22oct1881 at Kirkhill Castle, Colmonell, Ayrshire. From “Annual indexes to the services of heirs in Scotland 1860-69” (pub. 1871): Reg. supplement 1867: Margaret Barton, widow of Andrew Farquhar Gray of Glentig, comptroller of customs, Irvine. Heir: John Barton (Farquhar) Gray of Glentig, her son.
