Lived with his parents until their death. Worked hard and blessed with excellent health. A liberal contributor to his church (United Presbyterian). “His success in life is due entirely to his own efforts and assiduous perserverance, coupled with sound judgment and characteristic prudence. He is public-spirited and progressive, and enjoys the esteme and respect of all.” _________________ Obituary The Claysville Recorder says, “About 12 o’clock Monday night, December 1, 1902, John Graham, a highly respected native-born citizen of Denegal township, died at the home of Alex Miller, near Acheson, of jaundice and a complication of diseases, in his 86th year. His pastor, Rev. Alex MacLachlan, conducted the funeral service, at 10 o’clock Thursday forenoon, with serviced in the U.P. Church later. Interment in Claysville cemetary. Mr. Graham’s granfathers was one of the earliest settlers of Donegal township, and the family has therefore been residents of the township almost from its formation. John Graham was born January 14, 1814, on the farm now owned by John Cunningham, and followed the occupation of farming. He was never married. He has lived a retired life for a number of years, making his home with Mrs. Eliza King. They were temporarily occupying Mr. Miller’s home while a new house was being completed for them. Mr. Graham’s brother, William, now a resident of Nebraska, was a representative in the general assembly in 1858-59 from this county. One sister, Mrs. Sarah Buchanan is living at West Alexander. , , , References
