THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM MR. JOHN GORINS WIFES OBITUARY.
Mr. Gorin and his wife Mattie were married in Todd County,Ky, Feb. 25,1808. Nine children were born to them, three girls and six boys,all of whom survive. The family all moved to Vandalia in the spring of 1828, where Mr. Groin died April 26, 1846, his birthday aged 56 years. None of his family were present at his death or burial, except his daughter, Mrs. Rice and her husband, at whose house he died. He had made his arrangements to move to the state of Missouri and had sent his family in advance, expecting to follow them soon. Remaining to settle up his business,but was suddenly taken ill and died before the news of his sickness could be communicated to any but those who were present. Neither his nor any of the other children heard of his death until days after the burial.
