Case 10635: Gardner John (Capt.) Wenham 1805, Nov 6.
Will of "John Gardner of Wenham", dated 21 Jan 1794, proved 6 Nov 1805, names wife Elizabeth Gardner, children of daughter Elizabeth Blanchard, son Samuel Gardner. Son Samuel to be executor.
6 Nov 1805 Bond of Samuel Pickering Gardner as Executor of Cap't John Gardner late of Wenham.
- Salem VRs, p. 1:340, show the baptism of John, s/o John and Eliz. on 9 Mar 1736. Gardner says John was baptized 21 Mar 1735, seeming to cite "Records of the Middle Precinct Church". If the dates were the same, this would suggest 1735/36, but they disagree. Further, John's sister Elizabeth is baptized in 1733 and it is not clear why John wouldn't have been baptized then, if not earlier. So, it is not obvious how to resolve these discrepant records. John's age at death suggests he was born in 1731, apparently ruling out the possibility of a second son John.
