David Foster was a landowner in Strasburg township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1780.

His son, John married Elizabeth Ferree, born in 1762 and died in 1810, the daughter of Philip Ferree, Jr. 1687-1753.

John Ferree Foster, son of John Foster and Elizabeth Ferree was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on December 5, 1788. He married Jane Fetz in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Jane died January 17, 1870 in Fayette County. Jane was born January 17, 1794. John died May 30, 1860.

John and Jane had children - Henry Fetz, John F., Elizabeth, Jane, Daniel S. , Mary, Rachel and Lucinda.

(III) John Ferree , son of John and Elizabeth (Ferree) Foster , was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania , December 5, 1788 , where his early life was spent. When a young man in Lancaster county he followed the trade of wagonmaker, but later removed to Fayette county and spent the remainder of his life as a farmer. He was a Democrat in politics, and a member of the Presbyterian church. He married, in Fayette county , Jane Fetz , who died in Menallen township, Fayette county , January 17, 1870 ; she was born January 17, 1794 . John F. Foster died in North Union township May 30, 1860 . Children: Henry Fetz, of whom further; John F. , born January 7, 1821 , married Eliza Sampy ; Elizabeth , born July 23, 1824 , married William H. Henshaw ; Jane , born April 28. 1826 , married Robert Hogsett ; Daniel S. , born September 2, 1829 , married Elizabeth Clever; Mary , born September 2, 1832 , married William Woods ; Rachel , born January 14, 1835 , married John Hankins; Lucinda , born April 12, 1838 , married Ethelbert Courtney.
