Captain; list dated May 15, 1775, of men belonging to 3d Reading co. under command of said Flint, as certified by Timothy Rusel, Clerk; also, list dated Reading, 2d Parish, May 15, 1775, of men who enlisted under Lieut. Ebenezer Damon of Reading, and Capt. Asa Prince, of Danvers, as returned by said Flint, Captain, to Col. David Green; also, Captain, Col David Green's regt.; service, 12 days, probably on the alarm of April 19, 1775; roll dated Reading, Dec. 19, 1775; also, Captain, 5th (Reading) co., 2d Middlesex Co. regt. of Mass. militia; list of officers chosen in said regiment, as returned by Jonathan Fox, and others, field officers, dated Woburn, March 26, 1776; ordered in Council May 6, 1776, that said officers be commisioned; reported commisioned May 6, 1776."

    Captain John, second son and fourth child of Ebenezer and Tabatha (Burnap) Flint, was born in 1720, and died in 1802. He resided in the north precinct of Reading, on the homestead of his grandfather. Sergeant George Flint. He is said to have been a man of stern aspect and inflexible temper. He was married (first) in 1744 to Joanna Farnham, who died in 1753. His second wife was Tamar Hunt, who died in the same year as her husband. His children wore: John. Joanna. James, Levi, Ebenezer and Hepzibeth. The last two were children of the second wife. The eldest son was lieutenant in the revolutionary army, and settled in Lyme. New Hampshire.to the ownership of the paternal homestead.

    Farmer and lived in North Reading on the homestead of his grandfather Ser'gt George Flint. It is now owned by Mr. J Gowen having passed out of the name of the family several years since.
