John was a Merchant.
July 10, 1714, John Finch of New York City, merchant, conveyed to son
John Finch, Stamford.
Jan. 4, 1727/8, John Finch of Stamford, conveyed to John Clock of
Stamford, right from my father Captain John Finch, deceased, right to
second division.
Dec. 8, 1730, New Canaan Parish was made up of parts of Norwalk and
Stamford. Of 24 members constituting the Parish when formed, 11 were
from Stamford and included John Finch. Society incorporated 1731 but the
Town continued to belong to Stamford and Norwalk until 1801. 1732 list
showed John Finch.
1738, John Finch one of the Episcopalians who asked to be excused from
payment to support church of England.
Dec. 12, 1747, estate of John Finch, late of Stamford, letters of
administration to John Finch.
April 5, 1748, Sarah Finch, widow of John Finch, Stamford, appointed
guardian to Peter, Ebenezer, Lydia Finch, children of said deceased,
minors not of age to choose guardian. John Finch surety.
April 5, 1748, Titus Finch, Mary Finch and Hannah Finch, children of John
made choice of their mother Sarah to be guardian over 14. John Finch,
surety.
Jan. 20, 1748, John Finch, late of Stamford; inventory taken by Abraham
Davenport and Daniel Lockwood. John Finch, administrator.
May 9, 1748, estate ordered distributed to widow Sarah Finch and the
children of "ye said deceast which are ten viz: John, Nathaniel, James,
Titus, Ebenezer, Peter, Sarah, Mary, Hannah and Lydia."
Jan. 8, 1756, widow Finch married in Congregational Church,
Wilton-Fairfield, John Keeler.
