The goose was missed from the outhouse on the night in question, and information being given to the police, Police Constable Hannant made a search, and in [the] prisoner's house he found the remains of a giblet pie and also some goose feathers, which were wet with blood. The prisoner's shoes corresponded with some footmarks near the outhouse, and there were some marks of blood upon one of them. The prisoner said he found the goose in a ditch. He was found guilty, and sentenced to one months imprisonment. John Emms was the father of Emma Jane Womack's husband, also a John Emms. It would seem that the "Mr Womack" is in fact either Robert or it could be his father James, who would have been 67 if still alive. 1851 - With wife and 4 sons at the Green, North Lopham, Norfolk.
