John Elland's origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 23rd February 1755, when he was married at Flintham in Nottinghamshire to Eleanor Fernihough. They went on to have two children baptised at Flintham: a daughter called Sarah in 1757 and a son called John in 1760. John and Eleanor were married for nearly 44 years. John was buried at Flintham on 18th February 1799. Eleanor survived him by nearly 20 years. References
