John Eames, a highly respected young man of this town, died at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Abbie Eames, on Thursday, aged twenty-eight years, three months and twenty-one days. Death was caused by typhoid pneumonia, superinduced by the grippe. His father, the late John Eames, died many years ago. Besides his mother he is survived by one brother and two sisters. The brother is George Eames and the sisters are Mrs. Erasmus Christenson and Mrs. Joseph Doleiden. The deceased was a member of the Sodi Lodge, No. 80, Knights of Pythias, which organization turned out in a body at the funeral, which took place this afternoon. Services were conducted at the house of Rev. A. M. Masonheimer.

Further notes: Emes and Ames are earlier spelling variations on this name. John Eames' mother was Abigail Lauchnor prior to marrying. Her parents were Philip and Salome (Nothstein) Lauchnor and Abigail was born in Heidelburg Twp., Lehigh Co. The Nothsteins were among the earliest settlers of Lower Carbon Co. Abigail's husband was listed as Joseph Emes in the census, and he was the son of David and Margaret Emes of Mahoning Twp. Carbon Co.
