It is possible, but not proved, that this is the John Duncan who was present at Samuel Jackson's death in 1844 in Morgan County, Illinois. This John was a first cousin one time removed of Samuel's wife, Vashti. Macoupin county is directly south and adjacent to Morgan County. But there are other John Duncans to consider also.
