Death of John Drake John N. Drake, a former resident of Madison county, died Tuesday, February 12th, at his home in Vinton. Mr. Drake was a son of Dennis and Marie Drake, and was born near Winterset, April 4, 1870. He was raised near this town and was married to Annie I. Wilson, February 22, 1907. They settled on a farm near Creston for about three years and then moved to a farm near Dexter, where they resided until 1920, when they moved to Vinton for school privileges for their daughter, Naomi, who lost her sight in infancy. Mrs. Drake and Miss Naomi survive him.
Mr. and Mrs. Drake were the parents of two daughters, Eunice, born in 1908, and who died at 2-1/2 years of age, and Naomi, born in 1911. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Sawyer and Emma Sheeley, and one brother, William Drake His other surviving relatives are nieces and nephews.
Mr. Drake united with the Evangelical church near Winterset, and on moving to Vinton transferred to the United Brethren church. Funeral services were held in the United Brethren church in Vinton, Thursday, February 14th, conducted by the pastor, the Rev.
