22 Jan 1816 - John A Douglass is recommended to the governor to fill the position of Lt. in the Rifle Co. of the 93rd Regiment. (Order Book 35:170)

6 May 1816 - Alexander T Douglass and John A Douglass of Augusta County, VA to Thomas Jackson of Augusta and Samuel Finley and Finley G. Shields. Whereas Alexander and John Douglass are indebted to Samuel Finley for $211 and "Finley and Shields" for $372.18 will sell two negro boys of about 12 years of age, one called Jack, well grown of yellow complexion and the other of about 8 or 9 years of age. 26 Dec 1817 - John A Douglass is in debt. He puts up slaves and personal property as security. There is a long list of debts owed. (Will Book 13)

Lots situated on the North side of Main Street near the Eastern end of town plus 10 acres adjoining Greenville where Rachel Hope formerly resided, now in possession and occupancy of Mrs. Elizabeth Douglass and John A Douglass [her son]. 24 Jan 1833 - Isaac Hall, Alexander S Hall and Robert Steele posted bond of $700 to administer the estate of John A Douglass. (Executor's bonds)
