The DeRydeware line were apparently Normans, and someone has traced lineage to William the Conquerer, and also to some Scots with names like Matilda Atheling, Malcolm III Ceanmor, Eadwyne, Alfgar III, and Aelfgifu Mallet. Since that wasn't enough, they went overboard after that, tracing back some 60 generations to Clodius II (Clodie) King of the West Franks, born in 6; died in 20. It's amusing, but I didn't think worth continuing that far for this book.
