Historical records for Early Tennessee Settlers have a Revolutionary Warrant (land given for military service in the Revolutionary War) Warrant Number 640: William Campbell, private in the N.C. Continental Line; 640 acres; issued 23 April, 1781. September 1796, the warrant was transferred to James Dougherty and Thomas McCrory, with John Doherty a witness. 5. Last Will and Testament of John Daugherty: I, John Daugherty of Lee County and State of Virginia, do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following, this is to say, 1st., I desire that all my Estate total and personal be left and remain in the hands of my wife Caterin, during the term of her widowhood. Except so much thereof as shall be sufficient to my just Debts, if my wife should intermarry during the time of her life, then my Estate to be equally divided with my wife and four children Anna, James, Joseph and Barnet, and to be enjoyed by them forever, and as my Children come of age I want my wife to give each one of their Equal Dowry, my land I wish to remain in the hands of my wife during the time or her widowhood and lastly I do hereby Constitute this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made-in witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, the third Day of May in the year of 1821.
