Bef. 1824, left PA, moved first to Putnam, Muskingum Co, where helearned trade of fulling. Abt. October 1824, came to Newton Twp, worked his trade in small millowned and operated by Remington & Slack. Worked at mill severalyears, then purchased it. Erected a new structure, for fulling,operated grist & sawmill, important business in Co. Served as Justiceof Peace for about 16 years total. Politically first a Whig, then republican. He was a Presbyterian.
