John Robert “Bob” Crumrine, 90, of rural Toronto, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, at Newman Hospital in Emporia.
Bob was born October 24, 1927, near Neal, KS, the son of John Neuton and Alida Myrtle (Hanson) Crumrine. He attended the Neal schools, graduating from Neal High School in 1944.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Naval Reserve, the Army Reserve, and the Kansas National Guard.
On September 12, 1953, he and Dolores Dora Hershberger were married in Eureka. They had three children, Deborah, Cheryl, and Jack. They lived all their married life in the Greenwood and Woodson county area.
Bob was a lifelong rancher and also worked as a bank courier for 27 years.
He was a member of Woodson Lodge #121, A.F. & A.M., and American Legion Post #325, both in Toronto, and was a member of Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Wilbur Crumrine.
He leaves behind Dolores, his wife of more than 64 years; two daughters, Deborah Garrison and husband David, Reading, KS, and Cheryl Muncy and husband Ronald, Benton, KS; a son, Jack Crumrine and wife Rita, Toronto; five grandchildren, Kimberly Maley (Scott), Overland Park, KS, Amanda Meek (Jeff), Emporia, Melissa Ewert (Zac) Emporia, J.W. Crumrine (Christina), Yates Center, and Jamie Ashlock (Zevi), Eureka; thirteen great-grandchildren, Candice, Charlotte, Coltan, Crady, Linden, Kendrick, Miles, Morgen, Madeline, Rexlyn, Anna, Grant, and Cecilia; and many other relatives and friends.
